Woman, get in the picture!

I am sure I am not the only one with a camera roll full of sweet photos. With cameras on our phones it has become so easy to capture amazing meaningful shots of our kids and significant other. This weekend I was attempting to digitally declutter and began to browse through the last few months as a family of four. You know what I noticed? I was not in that many photos. I can't say I blame that on anyone but myself.

As moms we obsess about capturing all of our kids moments and the moments that they live with those we love (dad, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins, etc). However, we tend to shy away from the lens when the camera turns the opposite direction. Why is that?

Truth is, moms often don't get in the photo. We can come up with a million excuses. Whether you are still working on losing the baby weight, haven't showered in days, are in desperate need of a root touch up, don't look perfectly coordinated or matched, are not wearing makeup or look like a sleepless wreck... WOMAN, GET IN THE PICTURE!

We are there! We always are. Moms are the coordinators and magic makers of almost all things. Your kids will not remember that you lived in yoga pants and a messy bun. They will want to remember you. Documenting decades of memories without you there is not it! Too much of motherhood through a woman's eyes goes undocumented and unseen. In 20, 30, 40 plus years our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will want to see us in those memories captured.

I for one have to come to the realization that I need to make an effort to get in the picture more. Whatever that picture may look like. It is a moment we lived... a part of our story. It is time to let go of trying to take the perfect picture and just get in it.

Let us know below, are you guilty of not getting in family photos? Do you have any tips to make sure your moments with the kids are captured too? Drop a comment below!
